This past week has been so eye opening. I am trying to figure out what my life goals are and it's so tough. I have been busking almost every day that I can. It's really really hot today and my amp cut out after two hours due to my lack of charging. Oh well. It got so blazing hot to where I think I did myself a favor by not charging it all the way. I just woke up from a nice nap. I got so tired all of a sudden but I've got loads of energy now. I am in a pickle and don't know how much longer I want to stay in Melbourne. I am having such a blast though. I kind of want to check out the rest of Australia too but I've met so many awesome people and am not ready to say goodbye. A friend of mine went to a psychic and the psychic said that I was going against my life plan and that I am paddling upstream so I have no idea what that means. I feel great and it feels like I'm doing the right things but who knows (besides people claiming to be psychics). Anyways, I will stop my rambling. I hope you are doing well and I hope the new year brings you health, prosperity, and everything else you wish upon your short life on this giant sphere we call earth.

Cheers,
Noah

Well, a lot has happened over the past few weeks. I got settled into Melbourne, Australia where I am temporarily and hopefully inspirationally residing for an indiscriminate amount of time. Life here is great. It’s sunny, by the beach, and very friendly. I have been busking in central Melbourne and that has been going great. There are so many very talented buskers in Melbourne and I am very happy to be a part of the community here. On top of busking I have also been writing a lot and I think some really special stuff has surfaced. I have my first official Australian gig coming up on December 27th at a really cool place called the St. Kilda Branch. St. Kilda is actually a suburb where I am living right now, which is right by da beach and very laid back. My computer died last week due to exposure to beer. The spill actually occurred in Madrid, Spain about a month ago and it was working that whole month until it decided it didn’t want to turn on anymore. Unfortunately Apple’s warranty does not cover spills so I ended up having to buy a new computer. That was quite a downer but I’m back and better than ever. A word of advice would be to keep all liquids away from your computer to avoid the mistake I made. It’s not fun when your computer stops working. People keep asking me when I am going to come out with another CD and although I have about 70 songs that have not even been recorded I am not exactly sure. I have been on a writing frenzy for the past few months trying to create a really nice pool of songs and I really want to find the right people to help produce an album with me. It’ll probably happen when I go back to the states. I have some people in mind but I really want to make this album something special so we’ll just have to see. I wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday.

Hey Mates,

I have been in Melbourne for about two weeks and it has been great so far. I am still trying to get the hang of finding the right busking spots because there are so many really cool places to play. I think I have it under control soon. The people are really friendly and I finally moved into this place in a spot called St. Kilda, which is right by the beach. I wrote a couple songs so far while being here in Australia. I really need to figure out a way to record them over here since all of my recording equipment is back in Maryland. I don’t really plan on going back to the States until May so that I can dodge winter. It would be pretty sweet to just dodge winter for a few years; I’ll figure it out. I will be trying to keep you posted as my adventure continues to unravel. Thanks so much!

A 27 hour plane ride later and I am on the largest island in the world (Australia!!!!!!!!!). I figured why not dodge winter and go to Aussieland. Europe was amazing. I met so many awesome people traveling around Europe. From camping out in the mountains of Croatia to busking in the streets of Amsterdam, it was genuinely a trip of a lifetime. My guitar got stolen in Zwolle, Netherlands. I did however just receive an email the other day from a super cool person by the name of Eit explaining to me that my guitar has been recovered. Yay!!!!! Of all the places I busked I would have to say that Amsterdam, Split, and Koln were the best places to busk. I was keeping a pretty nice video blog throughout most of my trip (which can be found on my facebook wall) until my iPhone got taken from me at a train station. Never leave anything unattended for more than a second in any public areas in Spain. I met so many Australians throughout Europe that I decided to continue my musical journey and booked a plane ticket to Melbourne. I was going to go to Sydney first but naaa, I wanted the path a little less traveled. I just got here in Melbourne a few days ago and I have finally found a place to live for the next few months. I heard such great things about Melbourne so I figured why not give it a shot. I have not seen any Kangaroos or Koala Bears yet but I'll keep you posted on that. I plan to busk and write my brains out over here. I did end up writing six to eight songs in Europe; one about gypsies, another about a robber, another about a time bomb, and many more. Now that I have my computer here I'll be sure to keep this blog more up-to-date. Thanks for reading.

Cheers,
Noah

Alright, where do I start?  I have been completely out of my blogging groove and I am attempting to unload everything that has happened in the past month into this one posting so here it goes. For two weeks I was sick. I probably had the worst sore throat I have ever had in my entire life.  The sore throat lasted a whole two weeks however I started singing after the first week but did not partake in any busking.  During this time whilst still in great pain I was able to write about four new songs and I even learned two new covers.  It was my little golden age before getting back into busking.

During this time of sickness and great inspiration I also planned a journey.  I decided that I would go to Western Europe. Why I chose Europe is a mystery but I think my subconscious thoughts telling me to go had something to do with it.

So here I am on Monday, September 7th.  I am healthy, inspired, and ready to go.  I have planned to leave the country on the 14th of September and will arrive in Frankfurt, Germany.  From there I will travel throughout Germany and the rest of Europe to eventually arrive in Spain. I will do my best to document the trip and keep you updated.

If you have any suggestions on places to go/sites to see let me know.

My finger is finally better and July sure is goin' by fast. Lately I've been getting ready for this Busboys and Poets show comin' up on the 22nd. I highly recommend anyone that hasn't already been to this place to check it out. It's really sweet. Yesterday I was in Dupont busking and this family came all the way from Bethesda to see me in Dupont. I felt really bad because they arrived right when I was packing up. I should have played at least one song for them and I feel really guilty that I didn't. I was late meeting up with Cesse, my viola player and I didn't want to keep her waiting but if that ever happens again I will certainly stay a little later and play an extra song. I'm going to start playing in Dupont a little later than usual too; I'm definitely going to start taking advantage of the sun being out later. Also, my mailing list on my website has been down so if you would like to join the mailing list and get two free songs and have a chance to win a free serenade I would recommend emailing me at noahwoodsmusic@gmail.com. I hope everyone is doing great and I can't wait to see you all at Busboys and Poets on Wednesday, July 22nd. Cheers!

Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a better day than I am. Guess what I did? No, I did not buy a monkey even though it crossed my mind. The other day I was putting my seats down so I could perform in Dupont Circle. It was a great day, sun shining, birds singing, and the worst thing ever happened. I smashed my finger. I know, you probably think worse things could happen but no. Not to me. It wasn't my toe. It wasn't my knee. It wasn't my eye. It was my finger, the one thing I need to perform and do what I love to do! Fingers are important to people like us! Music is my income. So there goes that….for a few days. Or weeks. Out of commission. I guess I'll be surviving on bread and butter. Come to my place for dinner!! Maybe I'll whip you up some noodles too. Do me a favor, please, and as you read this just think “get better” for me so the universe hears this and speeds up the recovery process. I'm going to upload a picture so you can all see this devastating disastrous accident that has occurred to my musical finger! Take a lesson from me and be extra careful next time you decide to put the seats down in your car. Or you too could end up with an oozing finger. Better yet, girls, you can save money on manicures because you'd have a permanently blue finger nail. Blue pretty much describes how I feel at the moment. Sigh.

While playing at the Dupont Metro station on a weekly basis I have met a lot of really interesting people. This one girl 'Effey' was here from France on business and on Tuesday she volunteered to help raise money for Children's Hospital with me. I was so surprised that someone would be so generous to spend their afternoon doing this, especially someone traveling overseas on business. This shows that there are a lot of really great, good-hearted people in this world. You'll find them. All you need to do is look. Thanks Effey

We will be playing at DC9 on June 21st. It's off of U St. You should go.

I was in Dupont Circle today. What a fun place. I meet such interesting people there. I met a bunch of hooloah hoopers the other day. They were just walking around the city with hoolah hoops so I asked them to come and hoolah hoop while I play music. I also met a girl and she was dressed like where's waldo. It was brilliant because as I was playing a song I couldn't stop myself from being fixated on this Where's Waldo Girl. Where will she be next? So I am trying to figure out whether I should keep doing the Dupont thing or if I should move around more. What do you think? I have no idea right now.

Well, I am finally up and running on twitter. It's slightly scary how fast twitter is growing. I have been trying to figure out what charities I should endorse. There are so many. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. Something about conservation and animals...

Yippy. It was our first show ever today at Jammin Java. I want to thank everyone that came out today. It was great. Thanks so much Koris for the stellar photography. The band played great and now it’s time to party at Cesse’s place. It’s so interesting having a mathemetician in our band. I wonder if mathemeticians can completely bypass conventional language. It would be pretty strange to hear people communicating in math jargon; that’ll be the day.
